User friendly

Why would you contacts us for help?

  • Thinking about potential human factors problems and planning ahead is more effective than waiting for problems to occur and then trying to fix them after the event.
  • You need to find out more about the human causes of accidents in order to find out where your organisation is vulnerable to human failure and where improvements can be introduced.
  • You need to think about human factors when you are designing or redesigning tasks, activities and workplaces. You should also consider such issues when you are designing equipment or systems. Even if you buy equipment manufactured by others you should try to select items that meet good ergonomic design criteria.

Human Factors services

Human factors refer to environmental, organisational and job factors, and human and individual characteristics which influence behaviour at work in a way which can affect health and safety.  (HSE UK definition)

Careful consideration of human factors at work can reduce the number of accidents and cases of occupational ill-health.

Consideration of human factors involves:

  • thinking about relevant job, individual and organisational aspects;
  • addressing human factors in risk assessment, during accident investigation, in design and procurement and in day-to-day operations;
  • involving the workforce and their representatives; and
  • selecting from a range of effective control measures.

We provide a full range of human factors services with the aim of reducing human error and improving human performance.

Ergonomics

Ergonomic workplace design

Many ergonomic issues may be due to inappropriate design or layout of the workplace. Whether these are related to equipment, machinery, furniture, or the workplace environment, ergonomics can be used to optimise the fit between people and their workplace, thereby increasing their comfort, minimising the risks to health and providing the basis for more efficient working.

We can provide practical assistance in designing workplaces and optimizing the fit between people and their workplace.

We can assess people, their jobs, equipment, and working environment and the interaction between them, thus helping you design safe, effecient and productive work systems.

Construction site

Safety, health and working environment at construction sites (SHA)

Construction Client Regulations (Byggherreforskriften)

The purpose of the Regulations is to protect employees from risks by paying attention to safety, health and working environment on construction sites in connection with planning, project preparation and execution of building or civil engineering works.

We are well versed in the Norwegian acts (e.g. working environment act) and regulations (e.g. work environment regulations, the construction client regulations and internal control regulations). We can therefore facilitate SHA / HSE in all project phases from concept to completion and handover, thus ensuring that the Client's duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Construction Client Regulations.

Proteus WEAC

Proteus WEAC (Working Environment Area Chart) is a software suite that provides a systematic and effective solution for mapping the working environment. It has been designed to document status regarding implementation of WE requirements in the upstream business area.

Results of predicted, calculated and measured data (e.g. as-built data for illumination and noise),  together with results and non-conformities identified by WE activities can all be included in the Proteus WEAC.

The Proteus WEAC provides a simple solution where area status is provided for each room and area on the installation.

The  Proteus WEAC tool is the one and only tool needed to document all WE activities and the results from these.

The Proteus WEAC helps users to gain and keep control over WE factors and the influence each of these has on the working environment.

The Proteus WEAC tool is a useful mapping tool for any working environment onshore and offshore.
